Zoledronic acid

Has anyone here had the infusion and how well or not did you take to this injection?
I know that each persons results are individual to their own issues and health issues .
Just wondering what the overall consensus is for this.
I am about to have my first one this coming October.
Thank you all for your time .
All the best to everyone here.
Cheers

@shocknot26 1 year of Evenity . A one year break and now possibly Zolendronic acid .
I know after 3 years you can take a break from it but I’m wondering if you can ever stop completely?

@bonebuddiesforlife I am not sure. It is a confusing path no doubt. I was just dx at age 57 bc I fell and fractured L1. I have been researching hard about it all. I can be so confusing. 🫤 I wish you the best. This group is a lifesaver for sure! There is so much good information here.

Yes , frustrating, but I’m grateful to have this forum to talk with others that are going through the same issues and many much worse than me .
I wish you all the best

I’m due for my 2nd infusion of Reclast in October. My DEXA was recently done -3 . I’m following my CTX to actually see the best timing on taking my 2nd infusion.

@kristie2 I get my second infusion of Reclast tomorrow. Curious if you want to share what your Dexa was before your first infusion? You indicated -3 currently. I absolutely cannot get a DEXA every year even though Medicare will cover but the hospital group my doc is with won't - so I don't know per the gold standard DEXA test if my first year of Reclast did much. I can only get a DEXA after 2 years of Reclast. Per doc my CTX score says the drug is working well (52 before Reclast, 78 a year after infusion). I am sure hoping that reclast (was told a powerful drug that should improve bone density greatly) is going to improve my bone health!

@jozer I started with a DEXA of -4.6 and have been able to get them yearly. My DEXA prior to this one was -3.2. I’m sure I will now only be able to get one every 2 years. I can then pay for a REMS test which is about $300. Out of pocket.

I had my first infusion in June. I had no side effects at all and remain feeling well three months later.

@bonebuddiesforlife May I respectfully ask what you have taken prior? I believe I may be on the same path after I finish my course of Tymlos.

@shocknot26 I was in Evenity for a year and nothing for the past year .
Very poor guidance from my specialist.

@kristie2 I have done DEXA 6 months ago and 6 months before that.
That most recent one with great improvement moving for osteoporosis to osteopenia except for my spine with had the fractures but they remain stable .
I did a REMS as well 9 months ago and the results were amazing.

Recently I had my second Reclast infusion. In August of 2025 collapsed, and broke my right leg femur. My surgeon said my bone just crumbled. Exactly six months (to the day !) later in February 2026, I collapsed again. This time breaking my ( right leg again) fibula, and tibia. While I was in the hospital I was given my first dose of Reclast with no side effects that I can remember. I asked my dr. about the possibility of going on Evenity. I then received the injections for a year. I then was scheduled for my second Reclast infusion. However, after receiving my second dose , I felt like I had a VERY bad case of the flu that lasted about 3-4 days.
Right now I’m being scheduled for a Dexa scan to see where I’m at.
