Somatuline Autogel (lanreotide) 120 mg. Where, How and after.

I've had about 40 of these injections. Using cold spray immediately before an upper buttock area slowly is the way to go. I always tell the nurse I like it cold and slow.

I’ve had 66 of these injections I rarely have a lump. I get them in the upper part of the butt, I receive these from the same nurses that give these everyday so they have a lot of experience. They don’t offer cold spray at this Cancer center. When I get them when I am out of town they are never as good. Remember to take the weight off your leg of the side you are getting it on. Remind the nurse to push it slow. They get better the more you get,

"let me know if you have a lump" Maybe twice out of those 40. The key is bringing the injection up to room temp and injecting slooowly.

I can confirm every nurse has it own technique depends on the facility guidelines as I had received 2 in same facility I had a lump under the skin for those 2 times and the third time in turkey the nurse says they have given you wrong 2 times and then they give it to me upper part almost in my waist line but no lump this time and they give it too fast like 5 seconds.

@jlsgt in my case usually they inject it cold and slowly , that I could feel the medicine running inside.
But I think major concern that another nurse thinks they are injecting in the muscles not the fatty layer then I have to speak to the doctor about

I have taken Somatuline Depot injections for a year in two different cancer centers. Included in the box with the syringe and medicine is a flyer detailing instructions on how to administer the medication, how long to thaw, where to administer and at what speed. It is a very viscous liquid and should be delivered slowly over a specified amount of time. Mine is always given in alternating buttocks muscle near the top of the buttock. My buttocks are quite small, so location is limited. I have a couple of nodules from injection sites in the buttock that show up on scans, but no explanation has been given except that the medication was possibly administered too rapidly. I have never used the spray, although it has been available at both cancer centers. Since the medication is ordered in my name, I have asked to see the sheet of directions prior to having it administered.

Hi, I am no longer Somatostatin avid, but had Somatuline Depot injections monthly from 1/24 to 3/26, always from the same place and always in muscle near top of buttocks on left side only because I have a bladder stim implanted on the right. I totally agree with using cold spray and going slow. I had different nurses most times, but methods were similar and all were very conscientious of method. My injections were taken out of the frig an hour prior to my arrival. I do still have 3 lumps on my left side, tho, that show up in my abdominal MRIs.
