Psma addition

My oncologist communicated a newly fda approved treatment for metastatic prostate cancer called “psma addition” for pc that is not resistant to therapy. Has anyone applied this therapy or has any info on this therapy? Thanks

Could be not sure… however, the chemical they’re using is called LUTETIUM – 177. I believe it’s the radioactive shot to give you every six weeks for metastatic prostate cancer that is not castrate resistant.

@whatthef - Yep, that's Pluvicto. PSMAddition was a trial specifically adding Pluvicto to ARPI. The recent FDA approval your Dr is referring to (7/31/26) is for castrate sensitive patients. Pluvicto was already approved for castrate resistant disease.

@whatthef Lu 177 is Pluvicto. If you search the posts on "Pluvicto," you can read many entries that should answer your questions.

@whatthef Also, it is an infusion, not a shot, and it can be given to both castrate sensitive and castrate resistant men.

I am far from 'certain' about this, and I'm no expert on this stuff (don't ever hope to be one), but the mention of Pluvicto has surfaced in several conversations of mine with various oncologists over time, and I've been consistently told that it is generally restricted to those with documented "metastatic" disease.

@toomany Yes, it is the metastases that express PSMA which are targeted by Pluvicto.

@lag Thank you, but right or wrong, the first part of this statement, is inconsistent with my own current understanding. Again, perhaps my understanding of the term "metastatic" is wrong, but the glycoprotein PSMA, is said to be present on the surface of 'ALL' prostate cancer cells (not just the "metastatic" ones), right? I myself am classified as localized "non-metastatic", but my PSMA-PET scan results, show an abundance of radiotracer uptake, bound to the PSMA protein in "localized" (non-metastatic) cancer cells.

Otherwise, yes, Pluvicto apparently does indeed target that surface (PSMA) protein.
