Worried about a mass on kidney and possible kidney tumor

Posted by gbear1953 @gbear1953, Aug 22 5:35am

I've been having hematuria for a long time I mean years. This started in 93 with kidney stones.
4 years ago had PCA had SBRT and psa dropped to. 05
Had recently peed out clots so yesterday had ultrasound bladder and kidney. In 2022 had mass of 1.3cc same mass is now 3.3cc
Bottom of report mentioned MR for possible neoplasm.
Mass is round with smooth boarders.
Doctor has not gotten back yet but I'm concerned about it growing so much in 4 years.
BTW Doctor wasn't concerned in 2022
Scared. Any thoughts?

Spoke to ablation doctor and will repeat CT scan in 3 months.
He's not too concerned but if it grows, we'll have a ablation or might just go with ablation.
My thoughts are if it's not growing much we can go with active surveillance but my wife wants it treated

Had CT scan and they found a second much smaller mass.
Gave me the number of a interventional radiologist and looking like cyroablation where they inject cold nitrogen or such to freeze the tumor
I'm not in a hurry but my wife is

Hello - My tumor was 1.7 cm and I had cryoablation on June 18th this summer. You'll be under general anesthesia during procedure and should be able to leave same day. There will be a small bandage covering incision point on your back. It doesn't hurt but you want to keep that area clean. Bandage comes off in about a week and you're go to go.
Hope this helps and wishing you all the best.

@gbear1953, I can understand your wife's just wanting it to be gone. Was your doctor able to explain the pros and cons of surgery, ablation and active surveillance to help her feel more comfortable with the treatment plan?

Actually I explained what I wanted and he concurred.
I was a nursing student for over a year and I've always been abreast of biology and medicine. Ai and Google were a help as well
If upon the next CT scan we get a picture that it's growing, I'll schedule the ablation. These are usually slow growing tumors but in 3 months we'll repeat the scan. Part of my thinking is to get it done but I've had so many surgeries and procedures I'm just tired of it all like I said if it grows I'll treat

@donnachaidh I am a bit late in the conversation here but I scheduled cryablation for a 2.5 cm tumor on right kidney for Jan 6. The scheduler did not have all the information I was hoping for but maybe you can inform me. Were you able to go home the day of ablation? I am coming to Rochester from Ohio and we are setting up accomodations. Did you follow up with personal physician after the procedure? What were your restrictions after? I hope to be able to drive the 12 hours home the next day ( husband driving). I am pretty active with walking and golf and wondering if I should be planing to be slow to resume activity?
