After I got a cardiac stent, I was put on Plavix for about 6 months I think. But this is the first time for Eliquis. I've been on it since January because of extensive blood clot in my leg and pelvis. I'm getting all kind of spots, the small red ones and some brown patches that are shiny and have a film over them that I can peel. It is crazy. I'm assuming you are referring to Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) as opposed to Cold Agglutinin Disease, which also stupidly used CAD as the abbreviation. I have both kind. How lucky am I! I sent a picture to my doctor to see what he says about the spots. And will update everyone. Thanks

Blood thinners like Eliquis, Xarelto, others, cause very easy bruising from very small to quarter size and double that. My larger ones can take weeks to months to completely disappear. They are mostly from back of hands to my elbows. Very bothersome and unsightly side effect.
Cardiology insisted I take them since my Afib diagnosis five years ago. Afib patients are required to take blood thinners to prevent strokes from possible clots formed in the heart.
I also am somewhat anemic since having Car-T therapy over two years ago and the “bruising” from either blood thinners has become much worse. The other day I got a large hematoma on the back of my hand not even noticing that I bumped anything! I had to visit the ER which tightly bound the increasing hematoma to stop its growth and flatten it.
That has became a large bruise covering the complete back of my hand up to my wrist bone and lower parts of my fingers. It’s a worrisome increase. I tried to reach my diagnosing cardiology about it without success. Therefore my primary care doctor reduced the dose to Eliquis vs full dose because of my anemic situation. I have yet to relay that reduced dose to either my cardiology mgr or hematologist. I am now more concerned about having a serious bleeding episode.
