Ckd 3b: Looking for advice

It is so hard for my doctor to refer me to a kidney doctor he says he won't see me if I am 3b is this true?

Well.... I go to Mayo in Rochester every 6 mos to see how my kidneys are functioning after tumors removed 2 yrs ago.. because of the tumors, they say I am Intermediate Risk for recurrence or metastasis. They recommended I find a nephrologist at home, for back up if needed, between visits. I live in Idaho, so its a ways to Minnesota. So I have a nephrologist, but they understand it is for in the event of an emergency. My labs are stellar; I religiously eat for my labs, ride stationery cycle 6 mi/30 min everyday, don't have diabetes or heart issues. I'm 70. My eGFR last check was still humming along in the 80s.
I would really question whether a nephrologist would say No to you if there are no insurance issues.
If it was me in your shoes, Id call the nephrologist's ofc and ask them myself.
Sending prayers...this kidney stuff swept me head over heels when it was discovered.

What’s more important. Sodium or potassium.
Also how many glasses of liquid should he have in a day. Does that help in flushing out the sodium from his kidneys well

I would say that most of us who have some form of kidney problems are on a low sodium diet. The compromised kidney(s) have a difficult time filtering sodium. Sodium will cause you to retain fluids, elevate your blood pressure and add stress to your heart as well. Most things in a bag or a can are high in sodium. I am on a 2 gram sodium diet and try to be closer to 1 gram. Difficult but keeps me on my toes. Blessings.

Im hoping so. I have been having flank pain in the other kidney that has the small cyst they've been watching. Last time they mentioned possibly biopsying it.
Im not a saint; I do cheat! Just came back from camping off-grid; I ate a sausage on bun w homemade sauerkraut and mustard. But also ate plenty fresh veggies, and of course my daily apple w peanut butter. 2 weeks til checkup time at Mayo. I always, ALWAYS get worked up the closer it gets to flying out to MN. I don't like the unknown!
