Recovery time after Anastrozole/aromatase inhibitors
Greetings Everyone,
I took Anastrozole for one year. I had severe arch/foot and leg pain that did not improve. I’ve been off the AI four months with slight improvement in these symptoms. Can anyone share their “recovery” experiences from AIs. What side effects did you have, did side effects resolve and if so how long did it take? Thank you!

This is what Letrozole did to my face and it look over 2 weeks for the Blood to come out after 3 repeated projectile vomiting that spewed it 3 feet from when I ran to the toilet to try and make it. I broke a rib and was coughing up stuff from my lungs for 2 weeks! I stopped taking this poison and at 75 it is not worth the pain that I am still experiencing 5 months later that started while taking it! My rib has healed but my discomfort from the other side effects like many of you have posted have lingered on! I would like to sue the manufacturer!

3 ReactionsI also stopped after six months of Astra Zola because of all the pain and fatigue. I’m on the search now if there’s any thing I can take besides these types of drugs, which I am not going to return to.

1 ReactionI am trying herbal remedies that you might want to consider. The first is Turkey tail mushroom that is in a capsule form and I buy on amazon. The other is a tea called Sour Sop Tea that I also bought on Amazon. Also green tea is know to provide benefits and cures for cancer. I am only level 1 and at 75 I cannot deal with all these terrible side effects.

2 ReactionsI am 80. I had a single Masectomy last February and recovered well. I went on AI in April after doing radiation fob4 weeks. Thank goodness for these groups. Just this month my BP has skyrocketed and my hands and fingers are feeling stiff and swollen. Odd but not critical. I just assumed that stopping these meds would also stop any symptoms. Good Lord. I don’t want the last part of my life to be made worse and not better by the treatment. I think I may just stop these drugs and enjoy whatever is left.

4 Reactions@polsb05 My oncologist is very clear about making these decisions myself. He gives me lots of information but restates that these decisions are MINE. There is no push to please the Doctor or be a “good” patient but only to make my decisions with as much knowledge as I can and he will keep a close watch.

1 ReactionI am supposed to start Letrozole after I complete a 5 day radiation treatment and am wondering if there are any happy outcomes from taking this drug.
@dsf71 I have been on Letrozole for four years. Initially I was told my life expectancy was 1-2 years. However, I have now lived for four years, and my oncologist said my odds improved at about two and a half. I credit the Letrozole completely. I have had absolutely no side effects, and my bone density remains normal. Obviously it isn't tolerable for everyone, but I wanted to share a success story.

5 Reactions@mcmbkk I am just behind you at 75 and had Small ILC in my right breast and did Radiation for only 5 days. Letrozole caused me a problem that my Oncologist says nobody has reported of projectile vomiting that left blood trapped in my face and a small broken rib and weeks of coughing to get the junk out of my lungs! Life is speeding up as you already know and what time we seniors with cancer have left to enjoy without feeling so much pain and misery is not worth taking this poison. There are other alternatives out there and I for one have decided it is a better option for me! My Oncologist seems unhappy about this but she is not in the drivers seat I am! I have been taking Turkeytail mushroom capsules 2 a day 1200 mgs(bought on Amazon and Namo Curcumin 1 @ 500 mgs and Indole/3-Carbinol 13-C-200 mg and I am using a tea that helps also Called Sour Sop tea).
My husband witnessed what happened to me with this undocumented side effect and he is a Doctor in Public Health who has written many books and was a health advisor for Obama care called in as an expert in Preventative Medicine Software and is the creator of that industry So to have my Oncologist doubt and fail to report this side effect in itself seems like a malpractice to us. Good luck with your recovery and don’t be bullied. Also my Stepson is a MD too and he agrees that the oldest medicines in the world are from Asia and have proven history for over 3,000 years.
My friends Aunt just was cured using these herbal medicines from Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer and has no traces of cancer after a full body scan! Also this combination which I take at noon with a meal has stopped the terrible gerd problems that were created by the Letrozole that broke my rib and damaged my throat and stomach. So within a week No MORE Gerd that I have been having since April when the Projectile vomiting happened!
