Care suggestions after facial Mohs for basal cell: time, limitations,

Posted by donnabutcher @donnabutcher, Aug 22 9:57am

How long did it take for small basal cell Mohs to heal..that you needed to wear bandage?
Any scar prevention tips?
How long until you can use makeup?

I have to have Mohs on my face between my nose and lip. BCC and wondered since it is in such an obvious place if you had an tips for healing the wound. I am very concerned about the long term effect and possibility of concealing or diminishing any scar that will be there. I admit I am a little vain and am concerned about this! because of the location!!

I am 10 days post Mohs on my cheek
The swelling is pretty well gone but still redness I am try to carefully follow all surgeons directions so I’ve slept propped up, not done exercise, tried not to bend over much, no creams etc on site, no sun. Showered after 34 hours but no scrubbing wound
I have same concern Dr did suggest massage with vit e after 3 weeks
She used dissolving suctures and dermabond glue over
I hope we both do well
I don’t have to cover change or dressings but don’t know about you.

Susan, thank you for encouraging words. I realize there are factors to be considered. My hope is that the surgeon performing the Mohs is open to discussion. Due to my privilege of age and being in right mind (!), that is my hope! I will keep you posted.

Good luck to everyone getting surgeries on their faces. Mine was on my lower right eyelid and was quite gruesome for the six weeks my eye was sewn shut. The MOHS surgery was only the first part, the reconstructive surgery by a different surgeon in a different location was the part that had me worried. But, all's well that ends well and I have no noticeable scars. If I can attach photos, they will be below. The first one will be the MOHS surgery and second one will be the day after the reconstructive (grafts) surgery.

@itchyrich sorry, the second one is upside down for some reason, which makes it even worse.
