Posted by n2winjoe @n2winjoe, 1 day ago

I am looking for anyone who has been through what I am currently experiencing.
I belch constantly. about every 10 minutes for about 9 months now. I pray someone who has had this problem can help me
I have been to two doctors, given two prescriptions, had an endoscopy and nothing has helped

That must be frustrating. I wonder if you have noticed any dietary markers that indicate certain food or drinks may contribute?

I also found this article from Mayo that might offer some help

This recently occurred with me. I have never had gastric issues but was suddenly belching/burping constantly.

I had not changed my diet and had always eaten well with lots of fruits and veggies, fiber, beans, animal and vegetable proteins, healthy fats. I took digestive enzymes with my largest meals and drank lots of water and herbal teas. No alcohol, little sugar, no coffee, etc.. Good vitamins, good yogurt, prebiotics in my diet

I finally went to a GI specialist and was given an at home breath test kit for SIBo (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). The results were positive for hydrogen. It tested for hydrogen, methane, and sulfur. You can have one or a combination.

This was after extensive bloodwork showed everything normal. Abdominal ultrasound normal. I am waiting for an endoscopy to also check the stomach, as I experience some burning but do not want to take a PPi, as it contributes to SIBO.

I took the prescribed antibiotic and, for good measure, have been following that with the multi herb protocol on my own, which lasts four weeks. I have also been doing a low FODMAP diet while on the herbs.

There is a lot of information out there about SIBO. I would suggest to see your primary care doctor first and discussing your symptoms. It could just be simple indigestion. I was also checked for H. pylori with both the breath and stool tests, and all was normal.

It was emphasized to me that patients need to get at the root of their issue. Is it due to low stomach acid? Slow gut transit? Your PCP will decide if you need to be evaluated by a GI specialist. Sometimes, it is as simple as stool testing, H. pylori testing, evaluating diet, bloodwork. Maybe you ate something that did not agree with you?

Hope you find some answers.

I haven't done any testing or even had a Doc's recommendation for testing. (I'm 76 and averse to taking any meds unless absolutely necessary.) But I've been belching a lot for decades. Yes, sometimes it's cola. Or cucumbers or green peppers. And I DO know that I cannot digest dairy (except for butter). My whole digestive system is slow; I can tell that and eat only 2 meals/day. I'm sure I have low acid, so I take hydrochl.betaine tablet sometimes before eating out. I read about mastic gum helping to dismiss h.pylori in the stomach and that did seem to help. Fruits and vegs are much easier to digest, but we must have some protein also; I try to get my protein early in the day. Please keep discussing this issue.

Just a note in ppi meds. They also adversely effect bones.
