Vacation Over - No Bueno ☹️

Posted by mjp0512 @mjp0512, Sep 1 10:49am

Well, all good things must come to an end. My medical vacation for the month of August ended this morning with a visit to the lab.

PSA = 19.79 up from 3.45 on 7/2
ALP = 227 up from 125 on 7/2.

A visit to the infusion center may be in my short-term future. New Genito-urinary oncologist visit a week from today. I'll try to talk him into another PSMA PET so we can see what we're shooting at. Last one was 4/30 so I don't know if they'll do one that soon. We shall see. Here we go again.

Thanks guys!

My guess at the new GUO visit Tuesday...
1) Repeat PSA to confirm (that's a big jump in 2 months) but that along with the ALP jump makes me think it's a real number. And since I'm not yellow, it's probably bone somewhere.
2) PSMA PET to determine whether targeted or systemic treatment (or both) is warranted.
3) Hurry up and wait again. 😁🤣😁

@mjp0512 You have such a great attitude, buddy. I think THAT is more important than anything the ‘experts’ can come up with.
Time for a gourmet quail egg dish!🤗

@heavyphil Ha...great minds think alike. Just got back from the store with Canadian bacon and lemons. Eggs Benedict on the menu today. Slight twist, served over rosemary biscuits instead of English.

Well then...just got back from new Genito-urinary oncologist. Holy crap did my calendar fill up.

Chemo (docetaxel) starts Sept 16, every 3 weeks "until no longer tolerated or effective." Will reevaluate after that. It may be combined with Rituximab if all prior hepatitis B testing allows and cardio-oncology signs off.

Ordered:
Bone scan
MRI lumbar
MRI Thoracic spine
CT abdomen/pelvis
CT chest
PET/CT GA-68 PSMA

Me... "Don't you normally wait for all test results to establish base line levels prior to chemo?
Doc..."You're not normal. If we don't slow this progression down, the test results won't matter."

Doctors that don't pull any punches are a breath of fresh air!

And away we go. Think I'll have a T-bone to take my mind off it for a while.

@mjp0512 Oddly, I just had my pre-op for cataract surgery at end of the month.
They did ask me if I was on any chemo drugs, but since my answer was NO I guess it all depends on which one. Best,

@heavyphil - Thanks, Phil. Oncology knows I'm having surgery and scheduled infusions out until 2 weeks before the first eye so it should be fine. Surgeons can be a little finicky though. Still waiting for a call back to verify. Good luck with your new eyes!
