Compression fractures and anti-inflammatories

I have read that if you have an early stage compression fracture taking Celebrex long term could delay or impair proper healing of the bone. Recommend discussing with your medical provider any alternate therapies that may be right for you. Good luck!

Thanks that's what I read an appointment today with my doctor my thoracic has fractured the the 2nd time my osteoporosis and I had radiation I'm so frustrated and I just need something to help with the pain

I had relief after T12 & T 8 compression fxs by using cold packs (put in freezer, alternate when one gets warm) and also heating pads. It just took a few weeks of intense pain before healing completely.
I also used Advil but learned it’s not good for kidneys! Stayed within recommended dosages though. It helped more than anything. I just got through it. Hope you heal soon! ❤️‍🩹

This is the third time my thoracic is fractured since 2022 so it's my T8, t9, t10 my t9 and t10 fractured a month after I finished radiation treatment for breast cancer and all three refraction July 21st this year when I bent over to turn on my shower. So I have been doing ice packs and Tylenol Extra strength I can't do Advil but it's not enough when I lay down to sleep I have more pain

@sue417 I have not had any fractures, but have had 14 other surgeries and since I am unable to take any pain meds, ice has become my best friend, 20 minutes on 40 minutes off. It numbs the pain.

Oh yes I do use ice but I can't use it when I go to bed so today I saw my GP who refuses to take any responsibility for my back here because I see an endocrinologist my endocrinologist told me to go back to my GP for my back care because he only does my meds for osteoporosis so now I'm in this freaking ping pong game with these two doctors I'm so frustrated I could scream so now I'm going to go back and ask my endocrinologist to order the pre-op blood work before I take my first prolia shot and now I will have to pay for it at the pharmacy to give me the shot

@sue417 I use the reusable freezer packs - no worries about water leaking out such as with ice packs.
It’s a gel like substance that can be refrozen many times. FlexiKold gel packs is the brand on amazon or drugstore might have them.

leslie2121. Ice packs - I see Amazon has one for the lower back Comfytemp. Amazon offers several different kinds of ice packs. Thanks for sharing. I was not aware of them. For your low back pain your PCP should refer you to Ortho. Do you need a referral or can you go to anyone?
