Sudden debilitating lower back hip and pelvic pain
About 5 days ago I had this sudden onset of pain. There was no precipitating event. It was gotten progressively worse where I cannot stand for more than a couple of minutes without the pain going to a 9 or 10. It’s both dull deep ache and the electric shock of nerve pain. It’s affecting my lower back right hip and pelvis. I cannot sit upright I have to recline. Lying on my back isn’t great either. I had something similar happen to my neck a few years ago and ended up have to replace two discs. Was also sudden. I am 46 healthy and active. I do carry some extra belly fat but all my bloodwork is excellent and I exercise every day. Now I can barely walk. Standing is the worst.

@reets70 How was your PMR diagnosed?
@reets70 I think you’re absolutely right. And I don’t think it ever leaves your body, at least not the same. That pain and weakness never goes completely away.
@handsdown it was diagnosed by a rheumatologist after first seeing an orthopedic surgeon. I thought the severe pain was a hip problem because I couldn’t move my leg without severe pain. One methylprednisolone pill and the pain eased enough for me to lay down. It was awful in the Beginning. Now three years later, I’m still going to PT, had six epidurals that do not work, and still on prednisone.
I have Myofascial muscle pain in whole pelvic floor. It is a ten and unrelenting. I fell a year ago and broke several bones. Recent MRI shows arthritis and levator myalgia which is high tight muscles. Pain in vaginal and rectal area. Looking at Ketamine for chronic pain and Botox shots so I can get some relieve. No mobility right now. Anyone have this problem and how did you handle it. Help!

1 Reaction@gently I’m experiencing currently similar symptoms, and bending forward does help. What does that typically mean?

1 Reactionmag0108, bending forward creates more space in the vertebral canal. If bending forward helps you only know the space created by the alignment of the vertebra that protects the spinal cord and exiting nerves has narrowed. An MRI is the best way to determine what is invading that protected space.
Commonly it is a flattened disc that bulges against the nerves. Sometimes it is weakened ligaments that allow one of vertebra to slip out of alignment, or an enlarged ligament.
I would probably ask the medical provider to order an MRI, meanwhile I'd see a chiropractor.
Some pressure is just uncomfortable, but it usually, gradually increases and can eventually damage those nerves. Best not to be stoic in these situations.

4 ReactionsGood info, thank you.
I just spent (20) minutes replying to this post, and after selecting Post Comment, there was a small circle in the middle of the screen that just kept rotating. This went on for (5) minutes, so I selected the back arrow, and my entire entry was gone. Very frustrating after venting about how terrible the healthcare industry is right now, then I cannot even leave my comments because of how terrible the industry is right now.
@prd2025
Hello, I wanted to see if you had a diagnosis for your back pain. I’m curious to see if it was your hip flexor muscle that was possibly tight.
