Newly Diagnosed with Complex Hyperplasia with Atypia (EIN)
I am very scared and would love support from anyone who has gone through this. I have always had irregular periods - my cycles averaged around 40-50 days. About 22 years ago, I had a lot of bleeding and the gyn did a ultrasound and biopsy which came back fine. After that, all of my Pap smears came back normal and I have always been HPV negative. Two years ago, my general pap smear showed AGUS and atypical squamous cells, HPV negative. I had an ultrasound as well as biopsies of the endocervix , cervix and endometrium which all came back benign. Only the endometrium showed simple hyperplasia without atypia. In December, I had another pap smear which was clear of AGUS but showed atypical squamous cells of unknown significance and HPV negative. My doctor tried to do a biopsy in the office but it was too painful and we scheduled a D&C with anethesia instead. That was in late July and the results came back reading "Endometrial Polyp (Curettage): Endometriod Intraepithelial Neoplasia". My doctor called and said that they did not find cancer but that it still needs to be addressed, recommending a gyno-oncologist for a hysterectomy. I am 50 years old and have no issue with the surgery but I am terrified. I see the oncologist onthe 24th.
My husband went through BOT/throat cancer two years ago and I know that going through that is amplifying my anxiety. (He is doing great by the way!)

I am 83 years old and just had complete hysterectomy. Found a tumor with mix of serous and endometrial cancer. No spread. Clear lymph nodes. 50 percent invasion. In excellent health. I do not want chemo, but will agree to radiation. Does anyone have a similar situation?
@rakga, how did the appointment with the oncologist go? What are next steps?
The appointment went fine. The doctor did a quick pelvic exam and then took me in to discuss surgery. He recommended a full hysterectomy and strongly recommended removing the ovaries given that I am 50 and my periods have been irregular my whole life. He also recommended the sentinel lymph node biopsies during the surgery. He is board certified and gets amazing reviews in the area and will be doing the surgery with Da Vinci robot. I am scheduled for surgery on September 30th and my preop is on the 23rd.
I am still extremely nervous and the doctor was very matter of fact with just giving me the stats of 40%+ having cancer found during the surgery. I pressed a bit and asked if it was there, would it be early and he said “not necessarily”. He did say that cancer could be treated but yeah… didn’t help much at the moment.
I did speak with my general Gyn’s nurse and she pulled up the full surgical report from the D&C. It confirms that there were two polyps that were removed but the lining was thin and there was not much additional lining to sample. Hopefully that’s a good thing?
@rakga I'm checking in with you to inquire about your plans and how you are feeling. It sounds like the pathology report from the D&C did not show anything alarming such as a very thickened uterine lining.
Are you still planning on surgery for September 30?

I will have a complete hysterectomy on September 30th removing everything including ovaries and sentinel lymph nodes. I have been doing okay the past few weeks but the last day or so, my anxiety has been creeping up again. I am hoping speaking with the nurse for my pre-op appointment nexy week will help.
