Multiple Touchscreens not recognising fingers
This may sound like an odd question, but has anyone with peripheral or small-fibre neuropathy, autonomic problems or Raynaud's noticed that capacitive touchscreens increasingly fail to recognise their fingers.
My wife has LPL and progressive sensory symptoms and we have noticed that she now has considerable difficulty getting touchscreens to respond to her fingers.
I'm not suggesting that failure to operate a touchscreen is a diagnostic test for neuropathy, but maybe it should be looked into?
Thanks
Jon

Bracial plexus neuropathy for me, my touch ID function on my MacBook Pro no longer can read my fingerprint, and I deliberately set it with my pinky, the least damaged digit!

3 Reactionsjoyb, thank you for posting this information form the diabetes consultant. Interesting and helpful.
I’m not sure of the cause but I don’t think it’s circulation related. My circulation is fine other than during a Raynauds episode. It very possible that it’s from vertical lines, I do notice them.
It’s good to hear all the suggestions for coping with the touchscreen issues, thank you for all the good advice.
@jonyb no finger amputation please.
My microwave touch screen has become a nightmare. I don’t have the strength in my hand because of surgery, and arthritis.
Now, if I could only walk without falling, I would be very happy. Guess one can’t have everything.
@SusanEllen66 yes it is very distressing when these things happen. I am fortunate but I see the progression in my wife condition and her doctors seem to think it is fine, if they had to live with it they would think differently.
Take care
Jon
