Do I need rheumatologist with temporal arteritis

Neuro ophthalmologist is handling my temporal arteritis. She says she is experienced enough that I do not need a rheumatologist . What are thoughts on this?

You are fortunate to have the expertise of a confident neuro ophthalmologist. They are on short supply in my area.
I suggest that you could self refer to a rheumatologist as well. They are often booked out months but with your
diagnosis they may expedite consultation. It is possible that your neuropthalmologist has more experience with
GCA patients than average if they have an interest in autoimmune disease. The rheumatologist should have more experienced with biologicals and long term steroids and workup testing. Ideally they could co manage.
