Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the base of the tongue
Has anyone been diagnosed with this type of cancer? If so what has been your experience?
I was just recently diagnosed and there really isn't a whole lot of information out there. From what I can tell this is rare because of the location of the cancer. Any info would be helpful.

Sorry that you have to go through this. I can't address your concerns, but I would suggest you do a search for Google Scholar. It will put you in touch with the research available without having to dig though all the noise. Good luck!
Hello @toriel41, and welcome to Connect. I hope you can find someone here who has experienced this cancer. My advice with a rare cancer/location is to seek out a second opinion at a large cancer or referral center for the best option for your medical care. I had a rare location for my SCC and started with a referral to U of Michigan, an hour from home, but ended up at Mayo in Rochester, MN. Finding a medical team that has dealt with similar cancers offers our best options, I believe. The head and neck Mayo team has kept me alive for 14 years with metastatic SCC and I'm not sure that could have happened elsewhere. Do you have such a facility within reach to request a referral?
U of Michigan does great work keeping my brother alive. I had SCC at the base of the tounge and the Detroit based Karmanous Cancer Institute cared for me. You gotta go where you are comfortable. As large Beaumont/Corewell is in Michigan, they referred my brother out to U of M. There are experienced people out there
