Reclast infusion long term side effects

Posted by tiza @tiza, Feb 4 7:41am

Hello,
I’m new to this forum.
I had a Reclast Infusion in May 2025. After a year dealing with knee pain issues my Dexa Scan results were terrible.
My endocrinologist had already suggested I’d need it, after doing some research I refused it for about 5 years.
Since the infusion, I’ve had digestive problems and pain on my left ribs. Strangely, on the first 24 hours after the infusion this is the exact place where I had intense sharp pain. It’s mostly during the night and in the morning.
Anyone experiencing the same?
Thank you!

@dannyandebbie So sorry for your reaction and pain. It is such a gamble to treat one thing and end up with more issues. I feel foolish to decline recast without trying it, but after my severe reaction to bisophomates and having anemia, I just don't want to risk it. I would rather risk doing another course of Forteo.

@claunch I also regret it. My fatigue went away in about eight weeks, but my back pain has still not gone away. I also have eye infections and right after I had that my hands and my wrist swelled up so bad I couldn’t even get a ring on the very first part of my finger.. I told my doctor I would never do that again. It was horrible.

@penny57 yes I've read of those exact symptoms and also of it causing peripheral neuropathy and numbness in legs and feet, and causing eye and ear problems that meant surgery for ear in people, etc.

@tiza my endocrinologist sent me to Rheumatology; did blood test and x-rays and could not find anything out of the normal for a man my age, sent me to neurologist, who did more test and X-rays and found nothing and suggested I return to my primary for any follow up! I do not see my endocrinologist reporting anything because he supports the Reclast and sent me fishing for a potential issue outside the Reclast. It is also my understanding that participles continue to travel around inside the body. That being said, something could be bothering you today and gone tomorrow or move to a new location. I read this from some one earlier today and I agree with this statement!

@dannyandebbie that's why the endos and rheumatolofmgusts do cuz they don't want to believe they are cause cuz they put patients on this shit poison. Yes its helped some people but its plating Russian roulette for those unlucky to get more hirrible side effects that don't stop cuz it never really leaves your body for 10 years.

Hi did u see my post where I gave the telephone numbers and other directions to fill out a firm online at FDA Medwatch Portal go online search for that and ""report a problem" then select consumer/ Patient firm and fill it out or search for form 3500 B to fill it out online and send it to them or call 1-800-332-1088 to report side effects or mail letter with all pertinent info and request drugs be banned or taken off market or revamped to not cause jaw rot and atypical femur and hip fractures etc. Or send letter to FDA Medwatch Food and Drug administration at 5600 Fishers LANE Rockville Martmyland 20857-9787. IF THEY DONT RECEIVE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF THESE IN ANY WAY U CAN TO THEM: THEY WILL JUST IGNORE AND DO NOTHING. IT WILL TAKE ALL OF US BANDING TOGETHER TO DO THIS. MY NUMBER ONE OF THEM IN MY ORIGINAL PIST FOUND OUT AFTER I HIT SEND WAS A FAX NO. DONT CALL 1-800- 332- 0178 ITS A FAX USE THE 1-800-332-1088 NUMBER INSTEAD. THANK U. Remeber: THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.

@lovesummer Yes. I had some side effects, which are manageable. This is my second round of Forteo and the side effects are about the same as the first time, so I was prepared. Some stomach indigestion, slight headache and dizziness, so I took the shot at night before bed. I find a bit of Brian fog but very manageable. And after 6-8 weeks side effects very manageable. You are building bone and that's how I looked at it. It's working. Also I gained about 7 pounds the first time, which I easily lost once done. This second round I gained about that, but payed more attention this time and eliminated night snacking and weight came right off. I think Forteo/teriparatide is a life saver for someone with very severe osteoporosis .

Well if you read extensively about recast side effects it stays in your bones and body tissues etc for 10 years and can give severe bone pain anywhere in your body, hard to pinpoint that its recast doing it because most Dr and endocrinologist will deny that its a side effect of recast because they need to justify giving it to all us poor souls who got this 40 year diagnosis with low bone and no good treatments or reversals, etc because if they made a drug or treatment that cured us: they couldn't keep us dependent on the bulkshit horrible drugs the manufacturers had to make with disemregayd to how bad and how long term the side effects to ALL OF THESE OSTEO DRUGS ARE HORRIBLE BUT ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THEOR INCOME STREAM NOT GETTING SHUT OFF. I choose alendronate pill but now I've been on zepbound cuz I'm fat with low bone and its given me laryngeopharyngeeal reflux no cure either and can damage my esophagus from zepbound and fosamax shit to. Look up all the side effects from recast every different web site will give u more listed. GOOD RX HAS SOME AND INDEPENDENT OF TE DRIG MANUFACTURER WEB SITES : THE LATTER WILL GIVE U JUST THE TIP OF ICEBERG TO THE EFFECTS OF RECLAST IN THE BEGINNING AFTER INFUSION AND YEARS AND YEARS TO COME.. ENDOCRINOLOGISTS AND DRS WHO PRESCRIBE THESE HORRIBLE POISONS DO NOT TELL U THE WHOLE TRUTH. Im sorry u going thru this. DONT TELL U THE TRUTH. I hope u don't have any more bad things to it.

Yes. I put on 8lbs in the 3rd month of Evenity and an additional 3lbs after the Reclast injection. I had been at a stable weight for years, know how to be on a maintenance diet, etc.
