Anyone had small fiber neuropathy (SFPN) develop into lymphoma?

@jchet, neuropathy does not develop into lymphoma. Patients with lymphoma may develop peripheral lymphoma from the disease or from some treatments.

As far as I understand it, small fibre neuropathy (SFN) does not develop into lymphoma. It can sometimes be the other way around — certain lymphomas or the abnormal proteins they produce can contribute to neuropathy, including SFN.

My wife has lymphoma and has seen a leading UK neurologists and haematologists in her illness. Interestingly, the expert neurologist described SFN as rather a “fashionable” diagnosis, while another specialist felt the lymphoma connection was controversial. However, there are recognised mechanisms by which some lymphomas can affect peripheral nerves.

Hi, A lot depends on the particular type of lymphoma and what it produces, for example abnormal immunoglobulins (antibodies), paraproteins or free light chains (FLCs). Immune effects can also sometimes be involved.

That certainly does not mean someone with long-standing SFN is likely to develop lymphoma. I would regard lymphoma as one possible underlying cause of neuropathy in a small number of people, rather than SFN being something that turns into lymphoma.
