Tramadol and bone pain
My pain mgmt doctor rx'd tramadol. I take one at bedtime. For 2 nights I fell asleep before taking the tramadol, and next day felt very depressed for no reason. That night I took the tramadol and next day depression was gone. I'm wondering if the depression was caused by missing the medication? I should mention the bone pain is from chronic blood cancer (essential thrombocythopenia)

I take Tramadol and never notied a connection. I get a couple hours of small "feels good" boost in the morning and that's it.

2 Reactions@1995victoria Yes, some people do feel depression when stopping tramadol. And recent research indicates tramadol use may increase risk of depression

You might want to ask your doctor about this, especially if it happens again.

In the past I've quit Tramadol cold turkery and never felt depressed.
@bajjerfan I was responding to 1995victoria's experience with tramadol - but we all react differently.
I have read many times on Connect about how difficult it is to quit Cymbalta (duloxetine) and metoprolol, but I personally had no issue stopping either one.
I had less than 4 hours of sleep after PT appointment yesterday.
The bone pain is worse when I have a lot of physical activity
during the day.....but last night really bad.......and tramadol didn't help.
too much PT I guess......maybe I should switch to having only one PT appointment a week
Bone pain (from blood cancer) and unrelated?hip tendonitis pain.....
@1995victoria I'm so sorry , unrelenting pain is so draining. And I get "...bone pain is worse when I have a lot of physical activity..."
Is it possible to ask your doctor for a "boost" - a different med for PT nights? Or, is it possible to take another med before PT - I have been instructed to take a large dose of ibuprofen before PT when physical manipulation will be done. I forgot on Monday, and have been paying for it ever since. And I'm sure my PT didn't appreciate all my groans and flinching while he was working on the knotted muscles 🫤.
It didn’t touch my lumbar/SI pain.
@desire3160
Mine either if that's what I have.
