Has anyone developed a rash from PMR?

I have PMR and after getting down to 1 mg of prednisone developed round red dime sized spots on back of my legs. Docs. Don’t seem to know why but, blood work does show some sort of viral infection? I asked if this could be related to PMR but, all were not sure.

I have PMR and I've had two much smaller circles show up during my prednisone taper... one on my lower left calf and one on my left thigh. I don't think it's PMR related but possibly due to the lack of prednisone suppression of something else. Both have cleared up now with just a bit of peeling skin. I'm at 3mg prednisone now and have been tapering from 25mg since early May. I have taken 3 shots of kevzara too, so I never know whether something is PMR related, taper related or kevzara start up related. At 73, I have multiple other things going on also, including SMM.

If the rash persists get in to see an experienced dermatologist. They are the experts with potential autoimmune skin disorders and diagnosis.

Thanks. I did see a dermatologist and their findings were inconclusive. Biopsy showed possible virus. I did make an appointment with another dermatologist but, unfortunately couldn’t get an immediate appointment.

Glad you had a thorough check. Biopsy usually offers clues if it serious. Take photos if it evolves. Get a copy of the report they sometimes include a photo micrograph.
Or you can get the slides if you go for another opinion..
Any labs pointing to virus.?

Yes, the labs did point to a virus but, were inconclusive. I am going to my rheumatologist next week and will show her all the info.
