Bronchiectasis meds and oral hygiene

Has anyone using any of these
Sodium chloride 7%
Levalbuterol inhaler
Bevespi inhaler
Brinsupri
Last two weeks NAC
Experienced sudden development teeth cavities?
I see my dentist and dental hygienist every 3-4 months and since last visit today they found four cavities in my front lower teeth. The could not believe it because three months ago there was no sign of trouble. My dentist thinks it’s one of the meds I take but which one? We are so complicated cases. So I need four fillings if the cavities are not deep or crowns. That made me cry. I really take care of my teeth and this is so sudden. So I wonder if anybody had a similar problem.

Oh gosh, that stinks! Especially since you're at the dentist 4x/year. Maybe, guessing here, it's the combo of brinsupri and Bevespi inhaler. Bevespi is an anticholinergic, which dries up saliva and causes dry mouth, which can make conditions right for tooth decay. I do not think the other meds would cause it.

Talk with the doctor who prescribed brensocatib and Bevespi about whether you should keep taking it as you are, or whether the dose should be changed because of the side effects. I know Brinsupri has warnings about gingival and periodontal side events, but I thought that was gum disease not cavities. I could be wrong. I would also talk with Brinsupi pharmacist to report this side effect.

Ask for fluoride treatment each visit, usually a little extra money, and use a fluoride rinse at night. To ward off dry mouth, I tape my mouth at night. I know not for everybody but it works for me.

@scoop thank you for responding to my email. I agree with you, after searching online that probably Bevespi is the bad guy. Yes I am extremely dried out and my mouth is always dry. At night I rinse with biotene and during the day I drink quite a lot plus suck on sugar free cough drops. I guess it’s not enough. And I always have fluoride treatment at my dentist. Now she gave me rinse and toothpaste Fluoridex- so I will see if it helps for other suspicious spots. I am on bevespi since january25 and brinsupri for 10 months and I was told last time at NJH that if Dupixent works they will remove me from Bevespi. For the time being I have to deal with what it is and live but also rinse my mouth after using bevespi( that’s for sure). the treatments and meds we take always affect us in some way. Thank you again.
