Anyone else experienced Negative Dysphotopsia after Cataract surgery?
It's been 2 weeks since I had cataract surgery on my right eye....have been experiencing ND since then. My surgeon has suggested waiting 6 weeks to see if it improves by neuroadaptation and if it doesn't be wants to go ahead and replace my acrylic Toric lens with a silicone lens. I've heard sometimes it can take 3-6 months to improve so, am kind of worried with the timeline my doctor has set for the reason that it's easier to remove the lens at the the 6 week period. It's there a cut off point where an implanted lens can no longer be removed and replaced with a new lens? Would appreciate any feedback on experiences with Negative Dysphotopsia.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes on June 1, 2026. The next day, AFTER the follow up appointment, I noticed curved shadows in my peripheral vision on both eyes. My research suggested Negative Dysphotopsia. On June 16, an optometrist checked for retinal tears or detachment, and confirmed my diagnosis: Negative Dysphotopsia. It has been nearly 3 months since the surgery, and I am still experiencing the peripheral shadows. My research indicates that ophthalmologists recommend waiting 6 months for neuro-adaptation. If I still have the shadows after 6 months, I will discuss corrective options with the optometrist & ophthalmologist. It’s possible I may opt to just live with it.
