Has anyone not used medication after First Dexa scan spine -2.8?
I am 57, 5'2" and 110 pounds and have just had my first DEXA scan spinal -2.8 osteoporosis, femoral neck and hips -1.3. I exercise and eat well. I did go through surgical menopuase at 50. I have a blocked LAD artery and use injections of repatha for this. I am giving all these details because I really don't want to start any of these medications and wondering if anyone has ignored pressure from doctors, all of mine are encouraging Reclast. I am scared and tired of looking at all the pros and cons of everything. thank you in advance

Are you saying that you didn't have a follow-up drug to keep any of your gains? Are you able to track that with bone markers or doesn't your endocrinologist do that. Mine does not and it is quite irritating...darn!
@rn40 I suppose the medications must affect people differently. I had severe numbers in my spine and the latest DEXA had improved to -1.3. I had taken the Forteo shot almost two years prior to this DEXA. On the other hand, my hips did not improve that much and were -2.9. I have been told that Forteo targets the spine and Evenity targets the hips. I have only had 3 injections, so time will tell if my hips improve. So, I guess my point is, that different people must get different results according to body makeup.

1 Reaction@gravity3 i did not have a follow up drug. I was not given good information at the time. I was told I would need to take Prolia, for life, and once I started could not stop due to the increased risk of vertebral fracture. If I knew I could take just one dose, I would have done that. But as I indicated, my worst numbers are in my hips, and I did not get improvement in my hips,

I am sorry you did not receive better information
@rn40 Without Reclast or another bisphosphonate within a month after finishing your course, you'll lose practically all the gains of Evenity within a year!
If you need a link to research on this, I'll find it for you.
