@mikamouse Over the years I have been on numerous sleep meds all of which eventually didn't work. I had been on sonata, gabepentin and mirtazapine for years and just last year weaned from all of them with the help of this sleep psychologist only to discover they hadn't really been helping- the amount of sleep I was/am getting ( 5hrs a nite pretty consistently)and the fact that I still can't fall asleep till 2AM being off the meds means I was basically taking them for nothing. I just did another DLMO (Dim Light Melatonin onset) assay which will hopefully assist the psychologist in determining a new treatment plan for me but her next available appointment is Oct 14th so I have nothing to tell you about any successful treatment for me. I know after the first test she said my normal sleep onset time is likely about 4am, This second test is to determine a more exact time. She had indicated before the test that after she got the results, she would recommend me going to sleep at the time the test determined as my normal sleep time for about a week- so for a week I would go to bed at 4am if that was the time the test indicated, and sleep so I could see what it felt like. Then she would back up my sleep time in increments and upon awakening use light therapy to shut down the melatonin. I have read in this support group from others with Sleep delay that light therapy didn't help so thats why I posted this question. I will be sure to get back to this group after I see her in Oct to share the plan but am sure it will take quite some time to determine if her plan works for me. Have you tried anything beyond meds? What has your psychiatrist recommended? Thanks for responding. Maybe we may get others who have tried things more recently than the last posts to respond and share.
