Itchy all over!
I started on the “Big3”, a little over 3 weeks ago. I have broken out in rashes in different places and my body feels Ike it itches from the inside-out! From the palms of my hands to the bottom of my feet, the itching won’t stop!

Not trying to be alarmist here, but itching (pruritis) can be a serious side effect of both Rifampin and Azithromycin, and can be a sign of an actual allergic reaction to these drugs. With rifampin, the itching often develops some weeks into treatment. The itching can happen with or without a rash, and should be taken seriously.

4 Reactions@sueinmn Yes, I spoke with her nurse this morning. I got a call back from the Dr around noon. She prescribed Prednisone for 5 days and told me to take Benadryl. I have an appointment to see her on Wednesday (8/26).

1 Reaction@lisajanemac Did she have you stop the antibiotics? If not, please be alert to the possibility that, even with steroids and antihistamines, your reaction could possibly worsen. Did she describe additional symptoms to watch for, and what to do if it happens?

3 ReactionsNo she didn’t tell me to stop my antibiotics, but I took it upon myself to skip that day’s doses (Friday). I’ll resume my medications on Monday and I see her on Wednesday.
