HRT?
Hello,
I recently been reading about HRT and how it can help with osteoporosis. I wanted to check if anyone had any success with it after treatment? I did 12 months of Evenity and 1 infusion of Reclast but only gained 10% from my last dexa. I do not want another round or Reclast so I'm wondering if HRT with some lifting might put me in the -1s instead of -2s.
Thanks :]

I started bhrt at 77. My primary reasons for starting was because I wanted my libido back. But I also knew that it would have some positive effects on my one health. I had early menopause at 38. I was diagnosed with osteopenia 15 years ago. The advice I got then was.. don't fall. Finally I had a woman PCP who started me on alendronate which was the standard practice at the time. Now the thinking is start with an anabolic like forteo, tymlos or Evenity.
I took it for 5 years, then forteo for 2, evenity for one and now am on Prolia.
I encourage you to find a practitioner who has kept up with current changes and is not still operating under the flawed women's health initiative study.
If you run into road blocks as many of us have you can look for a functional medicine provider.
I am using BHRT bioidentical hormone therapy, topical only. I had bone markers run before starting and had them run again after about a year on hormone therapy. My bone markers shows that my bone loss has stabilized with the low dose hormone therapy. I also take supplements to help support my bones.

They can help determine based on underlying cause(s) of bone loss, overall fracture risk, age, and other factors.
In adults, estrogen is mainly an antiresorptive- it protects bone by slowing down breakdown to maintain bone density and can produce modest BMD gains. However, it is not a true bone builder like the osteoanabolic drugs. I'm using HRT after Forteo treatment. My DXA after 1yr on HRT was good but it was confounded by a few factors. DXA on 2nd year HRT is pending.

I’m interested in much more experiential documentation on Evenity. It’s brutal but I could get through 10 more months if I thought the Dexa would show big growth. I have severe osteoporosis in my spine at 80. I always drank lots of milk and was very active. I wonder if I got to this condition because I have celiac for decades and thyroid . Will the Evenity overcome lack of earlier absorption? Any comments will help.
Where was the 10% gain? In the hip or spine? If it’s in the hip that’s great, the back not so much…I wonder if we would better off thinking about the overall strength of our bones rather than bone growth. My main reason for agreeing to Prolia after having tried all the other stuff is I don’t want to go through the pain of another fracture. I’m not sure it’s realistic to expect big bone growth when we are constantly breaking it down!

Most Osteoporosis occurs due to diminishing hormones
May I ask when you had your first and most recent dexa scans?
Are you 2 months into taking Evenity. What side effects are you having?
@bswpb the 10% gain was in my hips my "femoral joint". t
The reason we went with Evenity is those joints were the worst numbers. It's really such a pain of having to balance "I should work out to get stronger" and "I should rest because my joints could snap"
