@melissa24 If I need to monitor my water intake each day I fix a pitcher of water with the right amount. I put it in the refrigerator. I put lemon slices in it because I like that--even ad cucumber slices sometimes. This works for me because I want to avoid catching up before I go to bed.

I also have found that magnesium helps. I take 250mg
in the evening and have found that the leg cramps are getting less frequent. I've been taking magnesium for about 1 week. I feel like we have to be conscious of the weather, as others have mentioned. Water intake (and output 😆) can eliminate more than we realize. I'm still fairly new to all this, so I've been just trying to figure out what works best for me. With the help and suggestions of others on this site, I have been able to find some relief from many of the side effects of the pred. Best of luck to you and all of us!

2 Reactions@carolneedham magnesium and lots of water important , but pickle juice will stop the cramping. Tennis players do it all the time. It's the potassium. And it works! I didn't know prednisone would make cramping worse, but it did for me too . I keep pickle juice on hand.
@wendypics thank you, I will try that!

1 Reaction@johnbishop Water water water. Pickle juice. Ask your Dr about veins and arteries in your legs. I have pmr taking everything 3 years now can’t get to 5 prednisone and kevzara. They can scan your legs and check blockages I severe blockages going for 3 surgery next week. Check google leg cramps and blockages.Good luck. David

1 ReactionI experienced painful cramps in my calves after a couple of months taking prednisolon and started taking high magnesium supplement daily plus drinking enough water throughout the day! It solved the problem
@pearliness
What a terrible experience you had!
It seems the doctors have little knowledge of PMR and are reluctant to tell us this. So sad.
As for cramps, I also have them. I was told to try CoQ10. It helps. Also I am trying a glass of tonic water at cocktail hour, it seems to help, along with sufficient hydration and potassium.
The tonic water on ice, feels like I’m having a cocktail and a normal person with no medical issues, Lol.
@david682e Prednosone depleats potassium in your body which causes leg cramps
