Alternate osteoporosis medications

I took a bone density test of the Lubar spine, left hip, and left wrist and found out I have severe osteoporosis. I have never been one to take medications, but my Dr. is very concerned if I do not take the once-a-month shots they are recommending. I would take one shot a month for a year of Evenity, and then Prolia shots once every 6 months. I am afraid of taking anything that is not natural, but friends say I should, so I don't break a bone. I am 72 years old and have always been very active until I had cancer in my right lung, and now I have difficulty breathing. I also have AFib. The side effects of the shots are difficulty breathing and heart palpitations. I do not want to add to my problems! What should I do to help myself out?

To get even more info

Go to the main heading of Osteoporosis and click on it. You will find a number of discussions.

Also, check out another free resource called OsteoBoston. They do a once monthly zoom call with a wide range of presenters covering all aspects of osteoporosis. All are then posted on YouTube. It is a great resource.

I had severe osteoarthritis along with sevel spinal fusions, SIJoint fusion and 2 thoracic compression fractures with kyphoplasty repair. I did the q2 months of Envenity injections and prolia every 6 months ( 2 so far). I am now out of osteoporosis, still areas of osteoporosis and a 5% improvement in my bone density. A much safer condition for me. I had no side effects x and would do it again to avoid any more broken bones

@recieve What about Forteo instead of Evenity? The daily injections scare off some people, but they are quite doable and your pharmacist can help you with your first injection to ease your mind. It is more like an epi pin and actually very simple. I take mine at night.

I would suggest a good endocrinologist. With your current conditions, blood work needs to be done in order to monitor things like serum calcium levels, 24 hr urine, CTX score, kidney function, etc.
