Glioblastoma stage 4 -my story so far
Glioblastoma stage 4 diagnosed 6 weeks ago: I'm 65 and had a headache. MRI showed brain tumor on left side. Next day I was helicopter driven to big hospital-brain bleed. Operated and now at Mayo Clinic for radiation and chemotherapy for 6 weeks. Half way with that.
Feel good. Happy I made it through the brain bleed. Amen for staying alive after that.
Just wondering if someone has made it over a year with a similar G cancer treatment strategy such as radiation and chemotherapy? Did chemotherapy continue later? How about those Optune(?) hats? Thank you.

My sibling’s story is very similar to yours. Is your methylated-wild type? I hope not. He had little or no trouble with the chemo and radiation and has refused anything else right now except for getting a second opinion. I understand that the cap is very constricting and restricting…
In my humble opinion I would find out about clinical trials that won’t affect your quality of life. It will depend on your type of dna to make a good choice. And, will it extend your time left considerably? With GBM it’s about time and enjoying your family, friends, peaceful mornings and doing what you love.

Husband has been through chemotherapy with radiation and then heavy chemo. Tumor on left side near the ear. Doesn’t like the Optume due to having to wear it soo many hours a day. He’s currently doing targeted therapy and doing well except for some short term memory loss and some side effects from the lengthy time on steroids. Being currently weaned down from the steroids so we will see. But has his energy, still drives, We are pleased.
Hello, my husband has GBM and tumor was on L side above ear. He’s currently 16 months past dx so far so good. He’s been strong and very active and is currently 67. He now gets targeted therapy (Bevasizamab) every other week. It took away all the cancer cells in his cancer bed. He doesn’t want to get Optune due to the length of time you have that big pack on your back even during part of your sleep. He drives and has a good quality of life which the Bev drug gives you.

I’m surprised he is driving due to epilepsy symptoms let alone a doctor reporting to the DMV. My brother stopped once he had his diagnosis. He loved to just take long drives and explore…yes, it is very limiting but if you sell your car which is expensive to keep up-uber is Very reasonable.
Hi. This is Pete-the one that started this post 13 1/2 months ago!! Surgery was now about 15 months ago. Ive been on Optune for 10+ months now. At 95%.
Feeling good except I'm tired a lot. Been fishing almost every day. Next mri is in 3 weeks. Hope you all are doing well and fighting this Glio BS.
