Burning mouth syndrome
I was diagnosed with Burning mouth syndrome 4 years ago. It has progressively become worse. I have been given so many different medicines that I can hardly count them and none of them are effective. I'm in counseling now, read all I can about upcoming research. I'm just looking for someone to talk to about it

Yes, Prednisone can be bad for long term. My prescription was
For 5 days only.
Is it still helping? I so wanna try it if it helps.
My ENT suspects that I have Burning Mouth Syndrome. However, he said he doesn’t deal with diseases of the mouth. So, he is referring me to another ENT who deals with mouth diseases. However, I cannot get an appointment until February 2027. Meanwhile, I have been suffering for 4 weeks and am concerned that I have to wait so long to get relief. Every toothpaste hurts. Food hurts. Looking for ideas on how to survive until February.
I have a follow-up with my Rheumatologist in a couple weeks to see if I am in remission from my auto immune disease Giant Cell Artiritis. I am hoping he by chance might be able to shed some light on this and to see if it is perhaps caused by my autoimmune condition. Any ideas?
Does anyone else feel like the burning mouth extends “behind” your nose as well??
@pag1949
Try getting an appointment with a neurologist
@pag1949 I am familiar with this type of mouth sensitivity. Ask your ENT to prescribe Triple Mouthwash. It contains Benadryl, lidocaine and a steroid. It might help. I recently ordered Dr. Bob toothpaste from Amazon. No flavor or additives but does have fluoride. Avoid spicy foods which I am sure you already do! Over time my sensitivity has decreased so there is hope. Be sure to look into your mouth weekly for any white patches that could signal an infection. I hope you can get some relief.

Yes! It hasn’t returned AT ALL, after having had it for over a year! My dermatologist prescribed it.
I hope you are relieved soon.
@2thfairy Hi, may I ask how long did you take it for? / prendisone/

I was prescribed Alventa/ antidepressant/ but Im a bit hesitant:(
Thanks for your help:)

It was 10mg Prednisone for 5 days. 15 tablets.
Take 5 tabs on day 1,
take 4 tabs on Day2,
3 tabs on day 3,
2 tabs on Day 4,
1 tab on day 5.
It helped quickly and the burning mouth hasn’t returned. My dermatologist prescribed it.
I have it and avoid mint, hot spices and any toothpaste with the sodium laureate. I thought it was from my Sjogrens.
