I am being treated for Peritoneal Cancer.

I have recently had many, many bloody nose episodes. I am on
Eliquis 5 mg. and Metformin 1000 mg. the Eliquis for a blood clot and the Metformin because one of my meds has raised my blood glucose.
Has anyone experienced bleeding from the nose like I have experienced? Thank you, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I am also on Eliquis for a blood clot. I started getting a bloody nose every morning. I just started it a couple of weeks ago and haven’t met with my oncologist since then to ask if this is a normal side effect, but it seems like it probably is.

I have peritoneal cancer too. Where are you in your treatment? Sending hugs and positive energy from Phoenix. 💙

Hello Korinja,
My peritoneal cancer is from breast cancer metastasis. I need perisentesis for the fluid that accumulates. I started Eliquis for a blood clot three months ago and Metformin for elevated blood glucose created by one of my medications.
The nose bleeding just started recently and it was quite a bit to the point now that I am anemic. I met with an ENT and he said the nose bleeds are from the Eliquis and I should use Afrin and nose gels to keep the nasal passage moist.
I am not sure what my future plan is.
I live in Washington State and am getting treated at Swedish Cancer Institute. I am going for a second opinion at Mayo in October.
May I ask where you are being treated?
This is a difficult cancer and I truly wish you strength and all that is good while you are in treatment.
