I too had a bone marrow biopsy at my local hospital and just went this week for a second one at Mayo Clinic. I opted to have sedation as I had done previously and didn’t feel a thing. Of course it was sore after. I was surprised that the biopsy was performed by a nurse rather than a physician but it went well and they are wonderful there.

Hi @kinger05 The BMBX nurses at Mayo-Rochester (and the other 2 campuses) are highly qualified nurses on staff who do all the bone marrow biopsies. These BMBX nurses average 15 biopsies per day with some of the nurses being on staff for years there. So they’ve had a lot of experience. ☺️
Welcome to Mayo Connect. If you don’t mind sharing a little more about yourself what had you receiving your 2nd bone marrow biopsy? Have you been diagnosed with a blood cancer or condition?
