Priming Tymlos pen?
Hi, I've read through lots of posts about starting Tymlos at a lower dose and that's what I'm going to try. One question I can't find the answer to: the directions say to prime the for the full dose. Is that ok to do if I plan to start with 4 clicks? Or should I also prime with only 4 clicks? Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Just do the full dose. You're talking about a drop of liquid vs. a slightly smaller drop.

3 ReactionsIs this advice from your doctor or from reading this forum? When you prime the pen it’s just to make sure it’s working. The next action requires you to “reload” the pen. You would just turn it to the 4 clicks then. But unless you have explicit instructions to do the full dose is the current “approved” dose.
Tymlos offers the service to do your first dose with a Tymlos nurse…talk to them.

@osteopatient2026-- Yes, got it, thank you. I'm going to ease in and increase to the full dose. I have pretty low blood pressure normally, so want to give my body a minute to adjust.

3 Reactionsosteopatient2026, priming is just to get rid of the bubbles not because they are dangerous, but to make sure you get your intended dose. You can go to four or eight with the same result as far as the bubbles are concerned.

3 Reactions@jopat If you’ll do the injections at night lying on your bed, then the fact that Tymlos may reduce your already low blood pressure won’t be as much of a problem.

2 ReactionsCheck your BP prior…what is it when you are resting? Mine is very low already as well. I didn’t have too extreme an issue. But if you have extremely low BP check with doctor. Slight headache off and on for the first few days then 2-3X a week (all about an hour after injection, within 3-5 hrs was gone) that and some nausea went away for the most part. Im 9 months in started my 10 months.

unless you are injecting fully hydrated. Then you may have to get up after two hours, in the dark, sleepy and dizzy, increasing the risk of a bad fall.

2 Reactions@gently I have a syncope issue…meaning if I get mildly dehydrated, I pass out. So I drink lots of water throughout the day and even before going to bed. I’ve never had an issue with getting up after two hours being “sleepy and dizzy”. No two people are the same.
