What can be the cause of my having trouble speaking?
What can be the cause of my having trouble speaking. I know I have Parkinson's disease and my voice should be getting softer, but my voice can be good in the mornings but drops off completely by 11:00 am. If I have severe coughing with a lot of phlem coughed up, then my voice cam good for about 2-3 hours after that. So, can someone help me with this problem?

I'm so sorry you are having this problem! It must be terrible for you. Have you seen your doctor lately? It sounds like getting rid of the phlem helps you to be able to talk. One thing I've always used to get rid of phlem is Listerine, the original flavor not the new blue and green ones. They don't work as well as the original one. Gargle with it several times a day. That should break up the phlem quite well for you.
I wish you the best.

I am a retired Speech Therapist Parkinson’s Disease is known to effect voice volume as well as articulation of sounds. Further, swallowing impairment due to muscle weakness can cause a build up of phlegm and even drooling in some people. Ask your doctor for a referral to a speech therapist trained in LSVT Loud therapy or the Parkinson’s Voice project. Look for a local Parkinson’s support group in your area. All the best.
