Does anyone take Remeron and Doxepin ?

Hi, @zelenkobooks - is this a combination of medications your doctor is recommending for you at this point? If so, will you talk more about that and how he or she decided on this combination?

Yes, I do. Actually, I take ramelteon and doxepin daily. That's 1 ml doxepin, of course, not the strength used to treat depression. I've been doing that for a couple of years.

The combination is fairly mild, which means in my case that it can be defeated if I let my sleep hygiene slip or go to bed too stimulated or worried. At that point, I'll either let myself stay awake for most of the night, or resort to 1.75 mg sublingual zolpidem.

I suspect sleep restriction (re: CBT) would be helpful for me if it weren't for my migraines. Regular sleep/wake times are critical for me, and sleep restriction just sent me straight into migraine rescue meds. (Having spent over a year trying to resolve migraines that went fully chronic, I'm skittish about anything that makes them worse.)

In a perfect world, I would make more use of exercise to manage the insomnia, but my knee arthritis constrains some of those options. Also, to be honest, most forms of exercise just bore the pants off me, which is pretty demotivating.

@lisalucier I am trying to go from 45 Remeron to 30 and Doxepin in a very small dose works as a sleeping aid.
