Do I have time to wait before a atpical ductal Hyperplasia excision?

I was told yesterday I have Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. I want to make an informed decision on which route to go. Can I put an excision off for a couple of months.

I have had 4 surgeries for ADH, ranging 4-8 years apart. All were initially seen on mammo and/or MRI w/contrast. No lesions were ever palpable. I had either a stereotactic or MRI -guided biopsy, depending on which scan first identified the concern. I underwent lumpectomy for ALL of them because that surgery is the Gold Standard treatment for ADH. There are several reasons for proceeding with surgery, including as high as 5%-30% incidence of upstaging from ADH to cancer when surrounding tissue is reviewed by pathology. An initial biopsy, even with 6 core samples, doesn’t 100% rule out presence of malignancy nearby. I am blessed with a general surgeon who specializes in diseases of the breast. His lack of hesitation has kept me cancer free by not leaving pre-cancerous cells to transmute. Wishing you all the best with your decision.

@gardenfairy I just had a lumpectomy for ADH two days ago (following a stereotactic needle biopsy two weeks prior) and am now waiting for pathology to return (fingers crossed for no upgrade). I too have a great surgeon in whom I have confidence. I have no BRCA 1 or 2 genetics and no family history of BC other than one paternal UNCLE who got BC at 85 (and that was not what did him in). Given the number of ADH surgeries you have had, have you considered prophylactic mastectomy with reconstruction to avoid more ADH surgeries? Asking as a friend of mine did that a coupe of years ago, which also meant in her case no further risk of BC and no more mammography. I think I would consider that if recurring ADHs became my reality which I‘m praying will not be the case. Thanks in advance. Hoping you are healthy and well.
