TURP surgary

I had the Turp 4 years ago and worked for a good 4years but because my prostate was big i developed bladder stones so i had the PAE and during the healing they found bladder stones so they had to be removed. So, that said the TURP PROCEDURE is good but the question is how long will it last. God's blessings.

TURP worked well for a quite while (years). Peed like a racehorse. One (big) problem for me was the retrograde ejaculation. Weird, and also the orgasms were incomplete after the surgery. It never returned to what it was before. Perhaps the nerve got damaged. Anyway, I probably wouldn't do it again if there was any other way to resolve the peeing issues.

I had TURP surgery 11 weeks ago and my frequency and urgency have improved greatly. I am still having irritation/pain at my penile opening. Is this normal? If so does it get better? My stream is strong and no blood. Just the irritation. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Getting up once or twice at night

Healthy male in his 70s, just starting research after finally giving in and going to urologist about low flow and multiple trips to bathroom at night. Flow test showed flow of 6, apparently very, very weak. Also, doc says my prostate not really enlarged. Have a PSA of just under 1.0. He is recommending more tests, such as ultrasound, but is telling me that I I can expect a TURP in my future. From what I've heard, I'd like to avoid if any other viable options. I'm under the impression that a lot of other cutting edge [pun intended] techniques are designed for enlarged prostates -- which is not my problem. Possibly TUIP? I haven't yet started more detailed consultations, etc., but am trying to prepare for what's ahead by familiarizing myself with the road(s) ahead. Any advice, experience or observations appreciated.

I am at 8 weeks after TURP. Still burning and perineum pressure. My urologist is at a loss to explain it. Today, after consulting with another Urologist, recommended I take 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with water 3 times a day. I have also asked to see a pelvic floor physical therapist. We shall see.

STAY AWAY FROM TURP. TURP is the "most popular" only because it is the cheapest method, and it is universally taught in a medical degree, all over the world. In 2026, TURP is barbaric, painful, unsuitable for those on blood thinners, and has a longer recovery.

More modern prostate reduction methods are -Holep, Aquablation, Rezum, etc. The prostate will always grow back after reduction. It is living tissue.

@dwwilliams164 AFter 11 weeks, it is UNUSUAL to feel pain at penile opening. If there is pain, it should be barely minimal and last only a couple of days. The irritiation comes from the ultra thin rod that directs the camera and laser, to reduce the prostate tissue., because even though it is ultra thin, it still has to slide in through the penile opening.

UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) is a potential side effect of these procedures. Check to ensure that possiblilty is ZERO. UTI is deadly.

I had one done 7 years ago. After the procedure I was in and out of the hospital for 2 months. I kept having blood clots block my urine and had to go to the ER and have a catheter install in the OR.
