Make sure it isn't the pain medication. I had that too. But, it was from Tramadol.
I took Zyrtec to help

1 Reaction@linda82 oh wow! I had mine on the 23 of July. How are you feeling? I’m okay just feeling out what I can eat or not and not feeling a lot of pain as before. The itching has me going crazy lol I took some Benadryl yesterday and it helped a little but I will definitely try the Zyrtec.
@lyles56 I had went on a no fat diet to prepare for surgery. I was shocked to find out I had a very large gall stone! I did stop the Tramadol 3 days after. I hate the itching too. I would have taken Benadryl (but cannot tolerate) Hopefully your itching will subside.
I started putting some fat back in and fiber after 5 days.

1 Reaction@lyles56 - I had a similar experience after prolapse surgery. It was because I got a UTI after surgery and was prescribed nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals (Macrobid), which evidently I react to with a terrible rash. In my situation, I reported it and the doctor changed me to another prescription.

2 Reactions@linda82 That was good you did that before surgery. I was dealing with this for 4 and a half months and I do feel better. I couldn’t really eat all those months but now my appetite is way better than it was before. Thank you and much success in your continued recovery. Thanks I will check it out.

1 Reaction@lisalucier Thank you for responding. Oh wow! I think it’s the tape on the incisions that’s causing it or the antiseptic they used on my skin but could be the meds I took so I don’t know. Still waiting to hear back from the doctor.

2 Reactions@lyles56 Mine started have issues in March. It went to my Dr. and thought I had eaten bad food. I told my Dr. that I was having issues 30moim to 1 hr after eating. Major gas bloating and it had a really bad odor. She had me document what I was eating. Did not go away and was losing weight. Went back in May and then she ran all these tests. That is when she had me do an ultrasound. She called me within an hour after that and said you have a huge gallstone, and I am getting you to the surgeon! I went the flowing morning, and he said we have an opening next week. I was shocked and scared. I told him I had vacation in 2 weeks. He said oh, you will be fine. LOL. I said I will schedule when I get back. I did not eat much and zero fat. Then had to reschedule again. I had gotten down to 96/lbs. Crazy. But, I did learn that it could have happened due to a surgery 2 years ago. (colon dissection) Where I lost 20lbs. The surgeon that it could have contributed to quick weight loss and that is why they take the gall bladder when someone has weight loss surgery. Just glad it is done and gone!

1 Reaction@linda82 Oh my gosh! That is a lot you went through! I’m glad you are over it now. Mine started about mid-March with a trip to the ER which they did the scan and saw the gallstones. I was admitted to the hospital for three days couldn’t eat just liquid diet, then sent home. Next I had to see gyn, gastroenterology, and Urology now I’m 1 week post-op feeling better than before and eating better since the gallbladder has been removed.
