1.7 mass on right lung: Any advice as I wait for a biopsy?
Went to the ER with chest discomfort. They ran all kind of test x ray CT scan. No heart issues but they did find a 1.7 cm mass on my right lung came I am now waiting for a biopsy. I have anxiety on a normal day but now it is off the charts. My mind will not stop going to the bad places. I am not sleeping. I need some advice on what to do.

@catdoris I am only sharing my own experience. I have no symptoms either. I went to the ER because I hurt my back and they took chest x-rays and that’s where they found the tumors. I did a biopsy of my lungs but the idiot collapse my lungs and I was really struggling for a while and then they found out it was Cancer. It took quite a while. I started in May and I didn’t get my diagnosis until June and then I had surgery in September because it was doubling in size every month I got my right upper and lower lobes removed and some lymph nodes have test size and I went through Kimo and now Tagrisso

2 ReactionsHey, I have just come from where you are. Mine is in the right lower lung, and it was 1.1 last time they checked. The biopsy is not painful, and I didn't have many aftereffects. Tomorrow, I go for the brain scan, which I'm scared to do. I have gone down the rabbit hole too many times to count now. I know how hard it is not to let your mind wander. I go off the charts daily. I've started with some meditation. Find people to talk to. Don't let it consume you. Says the pot to the kettle. This is a great group; stay with us.

2 ReactionsMy Dr's office just called & wants me to come in August 11th for a consult on what options I have with my spiculated 1.7 x 1 cm upper right lung nodule. His office did mention a resection. Now waiting for them to call back with the time. My local Dr's here who did the CT scan said my nodule had not changed & see you next year. My Dr in STL who did my annual PET Scan was very concerned & sent results to a oncologist/pulmonologist.
Scared as I too have smoldering multiple myeloma which is a precancer to multiple myeloma a blood cancer that is incurable.

Seems very small. Sounds like whatever it is was found early.
Only 1 nodule?
It could be anything. And it could be benign. Do what you need to do. It really doesn't help to worry and lose sleep. Believe me.
On my 3rd chemo treatment at Mayo in Jax. I sleep like a baby. Keep your mind occupied with things other than reading about lung cancer.
Resolve yourself to fight like hell if it turn out to be what you're afraid of.
I learned long ago that your attitude helps as much as anything.
