Does anyone else suffer from chronic intermittent hypoxia?
I have been dealing with this since Covid in March 2020. It happens pretty much every time upon exertion and quite often at rest as well. I recently flew from Detroit to San Diego and wore my wellue pulse ox ring and I was around 83-85% the entire flight (once we got up in the air). The chronic hypoxia has wreaked havoc on my body and my inflammatory markers are very elevated and my cbc is so abnormal that I had to have a bone marrow biopsy last year ti rule out blood cancer. My hematologist thinks it is reactive due to the hypoxia. No one knows exactly what is causing it or how to fix it. I am so frustrated. I want my life back.

Hi Chinnk13..the cause of my chronic hypoxia is from my childhood history of chronic bronchitis..I was always at the hospital, on an outpatient basis for respiratory treatments, as I had bronchitis as a hobby..that seems to have scarred my lungs..I also have had polycythemia (secondary) for at least 13 years..and, along with that, I have hypercalcemia, too ! Have been on oxygen for the past 5 years, but on top of the hypoxia , I now have also developed hypercapnia, so I use the O2 sparingly..ir's alot AND complicated.

2 ReactionsI too suffer from hypoxia but although I have searched for the cause I haven’t found it yet. Eighteen months and 3 doctors later I am still searching for a way to fix this. It has been determined it is NOT cardiac related and thank goodness oxygen therapy helps. If you have any suggestions for how to solve my issue please share. I hope to get off the oxygen tanks and nighttime concentrator someday.

3 ReactionsMy 28YO daughter has been fighting fatigue, among other symptoms. In earlier this year, her PCP learned that her O2 drops periodically. In the walk test, 97 down to 80, but other times into the 60's. Cardio function looks good, and she'll see a pulmonologist next month. After months of back and forth with insurance she is finally on Oxygen. Her doctor recommended she seek treatment someone at the Mayo Clinic, Phoenix. Do any of you have good experiences there?
Hello, I too have hypoxia it’s exercising induced mostly.
if I’m sitting I do pretty well sometimes my oxygen drops because of my position. Doctors have done every pulmonary and heart test and don’t know why this is going on. I have exercise to the max my whole life , was fine but it was quite brutal on me to shut everything off last while we tried to figure this out. I am on oxygen at night with a CPAP machine. I also have a portable oxygen concentrator. We have learned altitude plays a big part and I probably have some asthma. I’m a big mountain person so I have to take the big concentrator and my portable. It’s quite a big hassle and I’m on it constantly then.
It seems to be within the last five years I’ve been declining with energy and I have had Covid about three or four times.
I am meeting more people with this problem some know their reason, for me it’s a questionable puzzle.
I think this is good that We can talk to each other with similar problems..
If I get hot I feel like I’m suffocating
@mdmont3zuma I don’t know why they haven’t put me on oxygen because I have a fan that blows on me to sleep cause if I get hot I feel like I can’t breathe
I have the same problem…I wear a smartwatch and my blood oxygen falls into the eighties almost every night. Also falls when I don’t carefully pace myself. It is much better after 6 years post covid but still occurs almost every day…not just every other hour now!
