facial warts?

1. How long after exposure to warts would a person develop them?
2. What kinds of at home treatments, for facial warts specifically, work?

I'm a paranoid person. Some years ago, I started being more aware of people with warts on their faces and it has had me wanting to run. The internet says warts are contagious. Has me super paranoid about ever dating anyone, or even shaking hands with someone with warts. Ack. Scary.
I also have a very low self esteem.
Years back, I started getting cold sores. Not often, thankfully, but, I cried. I already don't like myself a whole lot. That was one more thing to be depressed about. And how did I get them? That was another question about how long after being exposed could you get cold sores? I had been to a dentist a week or two prior who happened to touch my mouth bare handed. Coincidence?
Back to warts.
Warts come from HPV, I've read.
How?
I hate mysteries. And, I hate being self conscious.
Last night, I saw a bump on the side of my nose that I had not seen before. I don't think it's a pimple. It MIGHT be a wart. If it is, now I'm beyond paranoid. People touch their faces all the time. You have an itch, you instinctually scratch it. If this is a wart, will it spread?
This isn't something I need in my life. 🙁
If it's a wart, I need it gone ASAP.
And if it's a wart, when/where was I exposed?
I saw my ex 3 days ago, and I was noticing a bump above her upper lip. It had me paranoid, thinking it may be a wart. We don't even shake hands, but she comes over to see the kids. She has a child of her own, a 2 year old, who I do end up playing with, and who surely touched my face. But, I haven't seen warts on her, and can't imagine her transmitting something to me just touching my face.
And, I was at the dermatologist 13 days ago. They were checking for skin cancer and froze some spots, including a couple of "pre" cancer spots I didn't even know where there. That includes a spot on my nose in the general area of this bump.
Any chance (can't imagine, with the extreme cold) the thing they use to freeze stuff off with touched my nose and passed on the virus?

I can't help but wonder. If this is indeed a wart, where/how did I get it?
And, what do I do now?
The internet says they can go away on their own, but it can take years. In the meantime, I will be paranoid about going out in public and paranoid about spreading such a thing to anywhere else, or to anyone else. I have kids here and don't want this to be spreading.
