Coping with Corticobasal Degeneration

Has anyone here been diagnosed with Corticobasal Degeneration?

Hi. My husband passed away from the effects of CBD last year. He had finally been correctly diagnosed in 2023 after 4+ yrs of symptoms. His progression was quick probably due to repeated bouts with Covid, though vaccinated, followed by pneumonia. I was his caregiver 24/7 and know how frustrating and depressing the illness can be for the entire family. We still had many good times even when he was immobile and unable to verbally communicate. Music, favorite movies, family chatter that we included him in. Point is, this illness is rare, there are no specific support groups that I know of and each case is different but, if I can help answer any questions, I'm here.

I was diagnosed 2 months ago with Corticobasal degeneration (CBD) at 70 years old and its been coming fast.

@larry68 Are you able to walk still? Has it affected your balance?

@mauricetaz I have to walk carefully because of balance being off and weak knees.I have different parts of myself hurting every day

@larry68 I'm 69 and started having to walk with a cane about 3 yrs ago. Now I am wheelchair bound. My wife assists me with a sit to stand device for transfers from chair to chair, chair to toilet etc . Not fun.

@mauricetaz I am only in to this for maybe 3 years tops.I am 70 now and all of a sudden it seams to be progressing at a faster rate.Different pains,weak knees and feet etc...shoulder hurt yesterday,not today.Different every day.Good luck brother.
