Y90 AND Captem Combo

@laree I had all of those issues from the cancer. None can be directly attributed to Captem.

I am sorry to hear of all of the side effects from the Captem treatment. It is good that you are having fewer GI problems with FolFox. When will you have a follow-up scan to see how well the FolFox is working?

Thanks for your note. I don’t have any date for a CT scan. They told me it’ll be a few months.

I too am glad I don’t have the G.I. problems with the infusions. But the pain in my hands is close to intolerable. So I’m not sure it’s any better.

@laree, how is your husband doing? Has he seen a diabetes educator to get some guidance on managing his glucose levels while on chemo? Perhaps an oncology dietitian consult could help with his additional side effects.

Had Y90 radiated beads some 7 weeks ago for 2” diameter liver cancer, had no side effects and first CT Contrast scan showed about 70% of the tumour is destroyed, no sign of spreading and surgeon says it is the best result he has seen for my age 83 plus size of the tumour. He and nuclear radiologist both agree it exceeds their expectations and should all be gone by this Xmas at the latest! Everything worked 110% perfectly! Plus as a bonus, the liver has already started to regenerate where there was minor damage!

My husband had a 50% tumor burden in his liver when he was diagnosed in 2008. He had y90 in 2010 and it killed nearly all of the tumors. The rest remained stable for over 10 years. During that time he was receiving lanteotide injections and was on everolimus for 3 years due to enlarged lymph nodes.

Hello @airbusa380 and welcome to Mayo Connect. I appreciate you sharing about the good results you had with the Y90 treatment. Having a 70% tumor reduction is a great result.

How were you feeling prior to the Y90 treatment and how are you feeling now?

Never knew I had it and it could be up to 5+ years old. I’ve been totally asymptomatic during and after the Y90 and had no side effects whatsoever! Surgeon says it is totally curable although the will be some “housekeeping” to do like ablative procedures to get rid of it all. Im lucky insofar as the tumour is encapsulated inside an outer skin and apparently this is good as after 3 PET scans there is no sign of its spreading outside the liver. That’s great news as it appears that with a top medical team the successful recovery rate is around 95%. Mine never spread outside the kidney that being a good thing they tell me. Hope he has many years ahead of him!
