@annaneed7 What medication are you trying to stop? That makes a difference. What does the prescribing doctor have to say about stopping it, what are they suggesting for a method to stop? Who is wanting your to stop it, you or the doctor, and for what reason? Will it be replaced with anything? It is difficult for us to accurately answer you if we don't have more information!

5 ReactionsI must agree with Ginger, you didn’t mention the medication you’re taking, you’re over 85 years old and you’ve taken the medication for 25 years, I’m wondering why you want to stop taking it now. It’s obvious that you’re a very fortunate and strong person to reach your age, I sincerely hope that you have discussed this with your doctor and maybe there might be other options for you, God bless you.

2 ReactionsThank you for your reply that contained good sense. that I had not thought of>.
Will talk to doctor . A suggestion hadn't thought of. Ay!
@gingerw You're right. It is anti-anxiety I want to stop it to make me feel "I've handled a problem;"....but maybe that isn't the best answer..it's more like a criticism of myself.
Thank you. I will think about what you've saud. (medicine is 2 20mg paroxetine a day and 1 lexomil a day

1 Reaction@annaneed7 Slow and careful is my motto, anytime I have wanted to change a medication, no matter what it is. Is there a "work around"? Is there something else to move to? Please be very careful. May I suggest you confer with your doctor to get their input and help to guide you along? These are heavy-duty medications!

1 ReactionI took Peroxitine for a short while and it was too much for me even at a low dose, I had used this medication 30 years ago and it helped me a lot, I weaned off it after a couple of years and it was easy to do. I thought it was a good choice for me but 30 years later my body and mind are vastly different and it was a bad decision for me to make, now I’m so weary of trying anything else.
