ALA Supplement recommendation
Can anyone recommend a specific brand of ALA that works well for them and if R-ALA is more effective? If it is, what brand of R-ALA is a quality one? Also, the dosage that they take. I’ve been taking 400 mg of Best Naturals ALA which used to help when my neuropathy was localized. I’m wondering if switching to an R-ALA product would be better. I’d really appreciate any advice you can give me as I am struggling right now.

I showed my neuro the supplement formula Healthy Hands and Feet by Terry Naturally I got on amazon. He said it was ok and I also added R-ALA. I took every day at first until the burning etc in my feet quit and now I just take every other day
Good morning. I take 1500 per day. Neurologist approved. I use R ala. i have been considering 2000
I find most docs a bit light on the neuropathy subject.
A good pharmacist that knows which drugs you now take might be helpful
I think you can search alpha lipoic acid on this site and come upon many responses.
Good luck finding your way.
@lindybowers
I use R ALA from Root of Nature
I take alpha lipoic acid Source Naturals 600 mg - Isn't the R before alpha mean pure acid? Not sure - if you don't have any problems with too much acid you may try it if my memory is correct - I try to take it on an empty stomach but sometimes time doesn't allow as I have others to take too. Source Naturals is a good brand I get at the health food store.
@gnocchi the recommendation is that we should only use the R form!
I take 600 mg of R-ALA with food in the morning and 600 mg with dinner. For me, difficult to determine if it helps. Been on it for a few weeks and will continue for a few more months. In other words, the jury is still out on this one.
@njed may I please ask if you have made sure that you are using the R form of ALA.
