Anyone have a bronchoscopy with no positive testing?

@vickied Did the pulmonologist order a CT scan before the bronchoscopy? If so, can he share the radiology report with you and explain his reasoning for the scope?

I’ve had several where there was a good result, ie nothing grew so MAC was presumed to have cleared. One did find Aspergillus which I did treat for. I have another one scheduled after my most recent CT as an infection is suspected along with other changes from the CT from the prior year.

@sueinmn No, he did not. I have Sjogrens which I brought up to him and see said that is causes dry mouth, I told him it causes bronchiectasis. He cancelled my last three appointments, so I believe he is saying good-bye.

Have you considered finding a pulmonologist who is familiar with bronchiectasis, perhaps at one of the centers of excellence? There are now over 50 centers around the country:

@sueinmn Thank you so much. I checked the list and closest one is 127 miles away. Can I ask if you take a maintenance inhaler, and if yes, what kind?

@vickied I am wary of sharing my medication list with others because we are all different, and our treatments should be tailored to our own health.
That said, I have stable bronchiectasis, asthma, hyper-reactive airways, allergies and rheumatoid arthritis as well as mild coronary artery disease.
My care team has had their hands full keeping me healthy, and I am grateful, but what I take may not be right for you.
With Sjogren's and bronchiectasis, your proper treatment would likely be different from mine, and you need a doctor who understands the connection.
You could look for another local pulmonologist who is more familiar with bronchiectasis & it's causes - you might start your research by calling the nearest centers of excellence and asking for recommendations.
Is 127 miles totally out of reach for you? Remember, once a treatment path, most of us only see our pulmonologist once or twice a year with maybe some phone consults in between.

I spoke with my pulmonologist, about going to one of the centers of excellence. There's one in new york city on long island, Mount Sinai but driving in new york city frightens me. There's one at the university of vermont.I'm looking into my sister lives ten minutes away. So I could stay with her. I'm waiting to hear back from them.
