Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) Surgery Options
I had a Urolift procedure last February for my BPH symptoms and it was a total failure. The implants are still in position though. I am looking for a different procedure to alleviate my BPH problem and Rezum seems to be a good alternative. Can it be done considering my prior Urolift procedure. If not, what would be your recommendation.

Thanks for the note, I’m not overly concerned about RE, it’s mostly the tiredness, some dizziness, sinus congestion, the issue of floppy iris is another concern. Like to go off it but getting up 5 times a night can’t do it. Other medications that are similar to Flomax have much the same Side effects. I will see my urologist soon maybe he has another view.

1 ReactionTURP is barbaric and old school. It is physically very painful, traumatic, and lots of bleeding. It takes longer than all the other methods, to recover.
Did pre labs for my Aquablation and urine test came back with high numbers, over 100,000. Doctor said it was contaminated. 2nd test results under 100K. Appears when Cystoscopy was done the catheter gave me some bacteria and a mild UTI. Gave me Nitrofurantoin starting yesterday. Procedure is day after tomorrow. Doctors PA did the Cystoscopy and mentioned some antibiotics but never prescribed them. Hindsight looks like that was a mistake. Seems UTI 's are common. Anyone with similar experience or thoughts?

1 ReactionJust remember ... say NO to TURP. we have gone way past TURP, in 2026. There are many, more developed, refined techniques in 2026 that has a quicker recovery time, and PAINLESS.
I never took medication as I did not want to, until I had Green light in 2012. I probably suffered in silence for 10 years before that. Then in June this year, 7 weeks ago, I had Holep. The recovery has been textbook, totally pain free, and the past 7 weeks of recovery has been most "UNEVENTFUL" which is good.
The reason TURP is still around - it is part of EVERY basic medical degree, around the world - every medical student learns it - it is very, very basic, very cheap requiring no multi million $ robotic equipment, compared to modern day ROBOTIC surgery (Rezum, Holep, Ultralift, Aquablation etc) which is non-invasive - i.e. no cuts into your body, minimal to no bleeding. Google on how these robotic surgery are performed. You will be impressed.
