SAVR and possible kidney issues
In Oct. 2024 I had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve. It has been a very rough journey ever since and if I had it to do over again, I would definitely go with a tissue valve.
Prior to my heart surgery, I had a CT with contrast work up. On that particular CT it showed that I have an ill-defined hypodensity in the upper right kidney. No follow up was suggested at the time.
That being said, I am now experiencing pain in my right flank for the past two months. Had some lab work done and I have occult blood (blood in urine) and cloudy urine. In general, I feel unwell and very fatigued.
I will have an abdominal/pelvic CT with contrast done next week.
Should I be concerned and can this all be related to my heart issues?

@twachter I think you need to wait until the upcoming CT is done before it can be conclusive what the source of pain is. Will you report back to us after you get the results, please?
What is your current eGFR [kidney function] value? If it is below 30, you need to be extremely careful about the scan contrast!

2 Reactions@gingerw Thank you for the reply, Ginger. According to my latest bloodwork, my eGFR is 73 so I believe that is good. Yes. I will report back once I get the results from the CT.

@cehunt57 It means Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement. (Open heart surgery)
