Oily skin from exemesttane?

For the most part I am more so just dried out all the time, from head to toe. I do get sweaty a lot but not so much oily, just soak through my clothes with sweat. I can't really remember how it was when I was adjusting to the meds, if I had some sort of transition phase.

Have you been having a lot of hot flashes? I am wondering if those could be opening up pores more to release more oils from your skin, from the heat alone that they cause.

Or it could still be dryness related. Sometimes I notice that my skin will overproduce oils, after I wash it like it's trying to prevent becoming dry but if I get a step ahead and moisturize it myself, it will be more balanced and not do that. It might be worth trying to apply a light moisturizer to your face, right after washing it and see if it stops it from entering the step of producing oils.

I have not had hot flashes since February. And then minimally. I will try moisturizer. I can't imagine it will be the solution as I'm putting on sunscreen when I sit in the sun and even 5 hrs of sun time almost every day has not dried out my oil factory! I won't complain, I know I'm in the minority and am so thankful I have no other side effects worth mentioning.

@marceille08 Well, if this is the worse side effect you have from exemestane consider yourself very lucky! I know you do.
Yes, I too have never seen this as a side effect but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
These drugs can do all sorts of trick on us...and some of them quite bad.
I suppose it's a "plus" your skin is not dry, like most of us in our 70s.
You'll kept that wrinkle free skin going strong! 🙂

Today I looked up oily skin related to Exemestane. My answer from AI was it can be caused by hormonal fluctuations from the Exemestane. Well isn't it supposed to suppress my hormones not increase them like in my teens when I was an oil slick face?? It clearly says the reduction in estrogen can affect oil gland activity leading to increased oiliness! Well girls, buy stock in Q tips for my ears and shampoo also and I will learn to live with a greasy face again.. Glad the dewy look is in. I guess at 73 I won't be thinking of how wrinkled my face will get this year! Bless all of us going thru this trying time. I use Dawn dish detergent on my hair occasionally! I hope someone gets a laugh out of this. At least I know I'm not imagining this.

I am 60 yrs old. I changed to exemetasane from letrozole. You are not alone. I have also experienced an oily face and pimples! Ive had dry skin for years.
Yes, it confused me too. I also have joint pain and foot pain daily. My hot flashes have gotten worse than while on the letrozole, but other symptoms are better. About one a month, the lining of my mouth seems to shed white stringy stuff. This is more annoying than a burden.
