Constant upper abdominal pain

Posted by tj @tjanet, Jun 1 4:19pm

I have Short Bowel Syndrome. I am having constant abdominal pain above my belly button and to the left of my abdomen and I also have constant nausea. Doctors don't know how to treat my constant abdominal pain and constant nausea. Abdominal pain doesn't change with what I eat, doesn't change with bowel movements and doesn't change with moving around/walking etc. Resting doesn't change my constant abdominal pain and constant nausea.

@tjanet I don't know what it could be as you had so many tests and nothing showed up.The only other thing that I could think of would be diverticulitis or an ovarian cyst.both being on the left side.

My constant upper abdominal pain isn't diverticulitis and I had my left ovary removed several years ago. My constant upper abdominal pain is related to my Short Bowel Syndrome. My doctors are not treating my Short Bowel Syndrome condition, so I get more symptoms. Some tests has showed things but my doctors don't want to treat me. The MR enterography and CT enterography showed ileus but my doctors are not treating me for ileus. My doctors want to treat me for SIBO instead of ileus. Treatment for ileus is different than treatment for ileus. It seems that my doctors don't understand the treatment for ileus.

I took Xifaxan to see if it would help my constant abdominal pain and nausea. Xifaxan helped my nausea but I still have constant abdominal pain. Doctors don't want to treat my constant abdominal pain. GI doctor thinks I'm constipated but I have 2-3 formed to semi-formed stools a day,it doesn't hurt to go to the bathroom. I don't feel constipated.
No cramping, No bloating, No indigestion. My abdominal pain doesn't change with what I eat or drink. Movements/position changes doesn't change my constant abdominal pain. Heating pad doesn't change my constant abdominal pain. I am getting frustrated with having constant abdominal pain for over 3 months. My pain level is a constant 6 out of a 10,but can get to a 10 out of a 10 at times. I have a high pain tolerance.

My GI doctors thinks that my constant upper left abdominal pain is nerve-mediated pain or mechanical pain. My upper left abdominal pain doesn't change with body movements, deep breathing. My abdominal pain isn't cramping, spasms, stabbing, pain doesn't come and go pain is constant all the time at a pain level of 8 out of 10. GI doctor wants to refer me to a pain doctor to see about getting a spinal cord stimulater. My upper left abdominal pain isn't nerve pain and it isn't abdominal wall pain. How can a spinal cord stimulater help with deep constant abdominal pain? My upper abdominal pain isn't related to food either.
I have short bowel syndrome. But my GI doctor isn't treating my Short Bowel Syndrome condition/symptoms. GI doctor continues to treat my symptoms as IBS but I don't have IBS. MR enterography and CT enterography showed ileus but GI doctor isn't treating my ileus.

Still having constant upper left abdominal pain. Pain level 8 out of 10. Doctors still don't know how to treat my constant abdominal pain. I still suffer all the time with abdominal pain. No bloating, No cramping and no spasms. Having bowel movements doesn't change the pain. Eating doesn't change the pain. What can help my constant abdominal pain? Doctors don't seem to know how to treat my symptoms. I don't have IBS. My doctors also are not treating my Short Bowel Syndrome condition.

Still not being treated for my constant upper left abdominal pain. Doctors don't know what to do to help my constant upper left abdominal pain. My constant abdominal pain is getting worse. Doctors are not treating me based on the tests I had done. Tests have showed things but doctors don't want to treat me for what the tests show. Doctors are still not treating my Short Bowel Syndrome condition. Doctors still want to treat me for things that I don't have then wonder why I am not getting better but I am getting worse. My abdominal pain is constant pain, not spasms/cramps. My abdominal pain doesn't come and go it is always there.

I reviewed my last GI visit report and some things in it isn't true. It says that my abdominal pain comes and goes and that my symptoms are more like IBS. However I told them that I have constant upper left abdominal pain. No bloating, No gas,No acid reflux, Not related to what I eat, pain doesn't change with bowel movements. Not related to stress or anxiety. Doing things/keeping busy doesn't change my constant abdominal pain. Walking doesn't change my constant abdominal pain. I don't have IBS. So that answers why I am not being treated for my constant abdominal pain. So when I have my next GI appointment I need to tell them again that I have constant upper left abdominal pain. Abdominal Pain is always there.
